（三）威风八面
在唐朝的历史上，有两位公主有过开府的待遇，一位是平阳公主，另一位就是太平公主了。平阳公主是唐朝开国皇帝李渊的女儿，她为李渊建立李唐立下过汗马功劳，战功显赫，因此成为大唐历史上第一个享受开府待遇的公主。那么太平公主都做了什么？为什么也会受到这样的礼遇呢？
我们还要从上一集说起，上一集讲到，薛绍之死与再嫁武攸暨对太平公主的一生产生了重要影响。她认识到母亲武则天才是她生命中最重要的人，于是太平公主积极投身母亲的麾下，渐渐参与到武则天的决策之中，成为了武则天的心腹。但是，武则天慢慢老了，太平公主依靠了这棵大树就要退出历史舞台了，那么以后的朝局将会发生怎样的变化？太平公主将会做怎样的打算呢？
有人曾给于太平公主“武则天第二”的评价，这是因为不但太平公主长得酷似武则天，而且她还继承了武则天的性格特征。不但如此，太平公主在母亲武则天的耳濡目染下，渐渐培养了她政治素养和政治权谋，面对李武两家，聪明的太平公主会倾向于哪一家呢？
神龙元年即公元705年，宰相张柬之联合太子李显等人发动兵变，杀死了二张兄弟，逼迫武则天退位，拥立李显复位。这就是“神龙政变”。神龙政变直接导致了大周政权的覆亡，同时也宣告了武则天正式推出政治舞台。而身为武则天心腹的太平公主，在武周一朝一直非常得宠，那么面对武则天，面对朝廷的变故，她会扮演什么角色呢？在神龙政变的过程中，她又发挥了什么作用呢？
神龙政变宣告了武则天正式退出了历史舞台，长期以来一直受到压抑的太子李显终于再次荣登大宝，位列九五之尊。可以说，在神龙政变的整个过程中，太平公主是一个不可或缺的人物，她的存在直接决定了政变的成败。而政变的最大受益者李显对此是心知肚明，那么他会如何犒劳他的这个妹妹呢？
（四）韬光养晦
公元706年，神龙政变之后，中宗李显奖赏功臣，晋封太平为镇国太平公主，哥哥李旦为安国相王。而事后，中宗李显，忽然意识到自己势力的单薄。他马上进行策略调整。具有政治敏感的太平公主立刻感觉到自己的处境很危险，一旦受到皇帝怀疑，后果将不堪设想，那么面对这个尴尬的局面，太平公主她的策略是什么呢？
上一集讲到，神龙政变之后，中宗李显论功行赏，给了太平公主非常高的政治待遇和经济待遇，太平公主也成为大唐历史上第二个可以开府的公主。此时的太平公主可以说的威风八面，春风得意，开始了她骄奢淫逸的公主生活。但让她想不到的是，中宗李显正为他的加封和奖赏“后悔不己”，朝廷内部的暗流此刻又开始涌动起来，那么中宗李显又有什么新想法了呢？
中宗李显加强自己的权力主要的用意是打压功臣集团，知趣的功臣们，应该功成身退了。不是有一句话说“兔死狗烹，飞鸟弓藏”，历史上不乏有这样的先例，既然中宗李显有这样的用意，功臣集团正是功成身退的时候，那么以张柬之为首五个大臣是不是想这样做呢？
而事实上，功臣集团不但没有功成身退，反而是得寸进尺，这让中宗李显心理非常不平衡。如果再不加强自己的力量，情况会很危险。而太平公主和相王李旦是最亲近的人，也是最能拉拢的力量，可是中宗李显没有这样做，他把目光放到了李家以外，那么在这种情况下，中宗李显会拉拢谁做朋友呢？
为了打压功臣集团，加强自己的力量，中宗李显不惜一切的拉拢武三思，希望能借助武家的力量能够遏制功臣集团的嚣张气焰。而在功臣集团中，太平公主和相王李旦也是重要的成员。中宗李显的做法，一下子让具有政治敏感的太平公主觉得不太对劲，哥哥李显为什么这么做？太平公主面对中宗李显的打压，她还会像以往那样威风八面吗？此刻的她会做出怎样的反应呢？
