第五次中美战略经济对话４日上午在钓鱼台国宾馆开幕。中国国务院副总理王岐山和美国财政部部长保尔森作为两国元首的特别代表共同主持对话。作为胡锦涛主席和布什总统的特别代表，王岐山和保尔森分别在开幕式上致辞。在两天的对话中，双方将围绕“奠定长久的中美经济伙伴关系的基石”的主题，就管理宏观经济风险和促进经济平衡增长的战略、加强能源和环境合作、应对贸易挑战、促进开放的投资环境、国际经济合作等议题举行６场专场讨论。
